Berry nice

Look what I found at the supermarket this morning...

They aren't the juiciest, most flavoursome specimens, but they're the first of the season I've seen (and the Small Girl and I polished off a punnet for morning tea). There's a bottle of rose in the fridge and the sofa is bathed in sun... what a pity I've got work to do this afternoon.

Have you had any new season strawberries yet, southern hemisphere friends? What have you done with them?

  3. I had my mother and her visiting brother from Australia to dinner last night. For dessert I made a simple strawberry parfait by quartering the strawberries and mixing them with sugar and leaving them to sit so they became syruppy. Then I layered them with a mix of yohurt and sour cream mixed together. The yoghurt/sour cream layer completely balanced out the sweetness of the strawberries.

  5. I have been a Strawberry Glutton. As well as trying a few new recipes (blog has details) I have eaten them with hokey pokey ice cream every single night this week. Glutton, I tells ya.

  6. So strange to see strawberries while I'm slowly preparing for winter :-) I made muffins with strawberries, just chopped them in little chunks and mixed them in with the batter. (Also nice to put some white chocolate in them as well.)

Hello - thanks for stopping by. If this was real life I'd make you a cup of tea and open the biscuit tin, but in lieu of those things, let's have a chat anyway...
