I don't watch much food TV, as a rule. In fact, I don't watch much TV at all (I've even given up Coronation St). But a new series is making me reconsider. It's The Katering Show - a sort of Kath and Kim meets The Office meets Annabel Langbein.
Australian comedians Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney have hit on a winning recipe for their shows, which parody "foodies" and all the gadgets, fads and Pinterest-worthy lifestyles they aspire to.
The Thermomix episode is a must-see for anyone who's ever wondered if their life really would be improved by a "German death machine" - sample line: 'It's the kind of thing you buy yourself because you've always wanted to join a cult but you don't have the energy for the group sex'. I showed it to a work colleague and he was practically weeping over his computer with delight.
If you've been feel guilty about your sugar intake, the I Quit Sugar episode will leave you with a warm glow...
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to watch this one...
Happy viewing!
Aren't they hilarious - we were giggling as we watched it the other night - some of the best comedy I have seen lately! With all this cooking reality tv shows it is amazing it has taken so long for a really good spoof (best cooking show spoof since Posh Nosh which was hilarious too) or have I missed other cooking show spoofs lately? Did you see the Sarah Wilson responded with good humour to the I Quit Sugar show?
ReplyDeleteYou're right, food shows are so ripe for this kind of treatment. I haven't seen Posh Nosh, will have to look it up. And yes, poor old Sarah Wilson with her 'rich girl hair and Photoshopped skin' - I'm glad that quitting sugar hasn't robbed her of her sense of humour!
DeleteI haven't laughed so hard since Big Girls Blouse! I love this!
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling you would like it!
DeleteNot for the first time I am deeply in your debt. I needed cheering up and I am definitely cheered after watching all the available episodes. This is definitely my kind of cookery show. (Incidentally, if there are any comedy writers doing nothing at the moment, then I'm convinced that food bloggers are a source of comedy just waiting to be delved into.)
ReplyDeleteI loved the one about photographing for blogs.
ReplyDeleteLovely bllog you have here
