In situ

Seems hard to believe, but we have been in our new house for a week. I'd love to say this was my new kitchen, but the truth is I can't recall where the camera is so am unable to show you the real deal.

Pretty, don't you think? Image via here
I won't bore you with the details of moving day - I mean, I'm sure you've all gone through it before too - but this particular move has reminded me of childbirth in that I used muscles I didn't know I had (different ones, admittedly) and that the actual move is just the beginning. The cleaning (why, oh why would you leave your house with years' worth of grime encrusted in the kitchen?), the unpacking, the sick child who is awake most of the night for several nights and throwing mega tantrums the rest of the time... suffice to say, there haven't been any gourmet marvels coming out of our new kitchen yet. But the 1980s oven does seem to work well, one of our new neighbours came over with a pot of marmalade, and there are rumours of a tamarillo tree in the garden. So far, so good...

What have you been up to in my absence? Pin It

  2. After my 11 house moves {so far} Lucy I feel your pain...
I still have possessions hiding from me!
I'm trying to get on an intimate level with my new oven but I'm not feeling the love. I'll keep persevering though.
Good Luck and Happiness in your new home ;D

  4. Oh no - I'm so sorry you had to move into a less than clean house. That so annoys me.
I believe you'll be in a bot of chaos for some time to come.
We have been here 6 months now and I have three big boxes to my left still not unpacked, no mirrors put up in the bathrooms, etc etc. Eeek.
However, one of the most important things probably is having nice neighbours and it sounds as if you have a promising start with that one.
    Good luck. x

  5. An oven from the 1980s? Does that mean that everything comes out of the oven decorated with kiwi fruit? Or maybe that's just the way I remember it. Best of luck in your new home.

  7. I'm working backwards through Google Reader so commented on your latest post first lol! Nice to see you back. I've been winning things since you went away, but my husband is still going on about the Whittakers chocolate, will have to see if I can source some in the UK!

Hello - thanks for stopping by. If this was real life I'd make you a cup of tea and open the biscuit tin, but in lieu of those things, let's have a chat anyway...
